Our story
From The Fabulous Venturas to today.
The Ventura Band’s story began in the 1970s, when a group called The Fabulous Venturas first took the stage. Over the years, many talented musicians came and went, each leaving a little of their own music behind. The Ventura Band you see today took shape in 1983.
That’s when Marvin, Denny, Mark, Gary, Don and Tina came together as the core group, and for twenty-three years they entertained all around Kentuckiana. They played the Kentucky State Fair, the Belle of Louisville, the Derby Chow Wagons, the Indiana Strawberry Festival, Huber’s Orchard and the Bloomfield Tobacco Festival, just to name a few. They also played countless wedding receptions and more Halloween and Christmas parties than we can count.
Through every song and every show, something special happened. A shared love of music turned into a bond that no band could plan for. We became a family.
Then life called us in a new direction. We stepped away to take care of our children, and the stage went quiet for seventeen years. Then came the reunion show, and what a night it was. The crowd’s love and our own joy told us it was time to tune up and get back to playing. Yes, we caught the pun.
Our longtime lead male vocalist, Marvin, was not able to rejoin us. We miss him dearly.
Phil Kemper stepped in so seamlessly that it feels as though we never missed a beat. Phil adds rich bass harmonies to our sound. His kindness and warm personality bring joy to the stage every time we play. We are so grateful to have him.
We feel so blessed to be doing what we love, at this stage of life, with the people we love. To our fans, our friends and our families, thank you for dancing, singing along and being part of our story. We can’t wait to share the next song with you.
